The deployment took place coinciding with the start of the May Day holiday, when a team of 15 intelligent robots was distributed at key points in the city, especially in the West Lake tourist area and on the main nearby roads.

According to the state broadcaster CCTV, these robots have the main function of detecting and deterring traffic violations, especially those committed by pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles, as well as regulating traffic flow and providing guidance to tourists.

Equipped with artificial intelligence systems, the devices are capable of recognizing verbal commands and analyzing images in real time to identify improper behaviors. During their operation, they work in coordination with human agents to improve traffic control efficiency.

Before their large-scale deployment, the robots had already been used in events such as marathons, where they served as a test to gain operational experience. Now, with the increase in travel during the holidays, they have made the leap to comprehensive urban traffic management.

The operation marks another step in the integration of artificial intelligence into public services in China, in a context of growing pressure on mobility in large cities.
