The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, assured this Thursday that the regional government will support the residents affected by the forest fire originated in Almorox (Toledo), once the evaluation of the damages caused by the fire to homes and plots is concluded.
She stated this from the Advanced Command Post (PMA) installed in Cenicientos, where she conveyed the regional executive’s support to those who have lost their properties or are temporarily displaced from their homes due to the fire.
Villa del Prado and Aldea del Fresno, affected
Of the more than 850 burned hectares, “approximately 600 have entered the Community of Madrid, most of them in Villa del Prado and Aldea del Fresno,” the president said.
Ayuso pointed out that the priority at the moment is to determine how many homes and lands have been affected, since, as she explained, the condition of the properties is still being inspected to ascertain the real extent of the damage.
The president affirmed that the Community of Madrid will act “as on previous occasions,” referring to the response given after the heavy rains that affected several municipalities in the region, when the regional executive promoted the reconstruction of infrastructures and aid to those affected.

A fire destroys the Maíz Maya factory
A fire destroyed the Máiz Maya factory and warehouse last night, located in the Madrid town north of Alcobendas. The fire has jeopardized the future of its 46 workers and their families. The company’s CEO, Edgar Reyes, has expressed his gratitude to the emergency services, but is asking for support from the public administration for the reconstruction of the building and to prevent job losses.
She also thanked the work of the personnel of the Civil Protection Plan against forest fires in the Community of Madrid (INFOMA) and the rest of the emergency services participating in the extinction, highlighting that they “prioritize their lives to protect those of others” in conditions marked by high temperatures and wind.
Ayuso warned that the weather forecasts for the next 24 or 48 hours remain unfavorable, so the operation will continue with “maximum caution” and constant monitoring of the fire’s evolution.
