At least 27 people died and another 42 were injured in a Russian drone attack on Friday against a warehouse that supposedly housed ammunition in the Bucha district, near Kyiv, Ukrainian authorities reported on Saturday.

“Unfortunately, so far 27 deaths have been recorded. And it is possible that this number is not final,” wrote Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv regional administration, in a message on Telegram.
He added that according to available data, 42 people suffered injuries of varying severity, including 4 children, and seven had to be hospitalized.
Additionally, 381 people had to be evacuated from the area, including 59 children.
Meanwhile, search and rescue operations and fire extinguishing continue, and buildings and adjacent grounds to the warehouse are being inspected, where an explosion occurred after the attack.

Among the injured are at least four children
So far, about fifty residential buildings have been reported to have suffered damage of varying severity, he added.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that “those who allowed this to happen must be held accountable for their decisions.”
“There are clear rules: ammunition cannot be stored near homes or other residential areas. Without a doubt, the relevant conclusions will be drawn,” he assured.
In a similar incident in Vyshneve, in the Kyiv region, on July 6, nine people died after a prolonged detonation occurred in ammunition warehouses following a Russian attack, which also caused damage to more than 280 homes.
