The technicians of the Railway Infrastructure Manager (Adif) will install topographic sensors in the apartment blocks of Trinitat Vella that suffered strong vibrations in the early hours of Thursday due to work related to the Montcada undergrounding project. In this way, the project managers will be able to monitor from now on the possible movements that may occur in the homes on Pare Pérez del Pulgar street, which are in a very precarious state and awaiting relocation to new, much more dignified public housing.

Adif staff have informed the neighbors about the installation of the control devices in a meeting organized this Friday by the Barcelona City Council. Representing the municipal government was the acting mayor, Jordi Valls, who insisted on providing all necessary support to those affected. However, representing the state public company, which is the one that really has to provide explanations for the mess, only low-level technicians attended.
The monitoring with witnesses who will track any movement will be accompanied by test pits on the ground, common preventive measures in the immediate vicinity of the work but which had not been carried out here as the site is at some distance from the works.

The Montcada undergrounding works continue
Next week, the compactor machine that caused the temporary evacuation of 76 residents of Trinitat Vella due to movements in their homes will be reactivated. It will thus resume its work on the construction of the future Vallbona railway variant and the Aigües branch, within the scope of the Nus de la Trinitat railway tunnel. However, it will only operate on working days, during daytime hours, and with a different method to mitigate vibrations, according to Adif sources, which continues with the Montcada undergrounding works two weeks after the large sinkhole opened in the Vallbona neighborhood.
Additionally, Adif has committed to informing in advance from now on about potentially noisy work so that no one is caught by surprise and does not have to go out to the landing at three in the morning thinking their house is going to collapse on them again.
