The Government has dismissed an official from the National Security department after publishing last Friday the figure of about 49,000 people who would have entered Ceuta last week coming from Morocco.

A decision that was made, according to sources from the Executive who informed EFE this Monday, due to loss of confidence in that person and which implies their dismissal from the position they held until now, but does not imply the loss of their status as a civil servant.
After the massive arrival of people from the neighboring country, this official, responsible for communication in the National Security department, dependent on the Presidency of the Government, published on the website of this body a report indicating that the existing estimate at that time about the number of entries was 49,000.

That report was removed shortly after from the website, and Government sources assured that it was not an official figure.
The Ministry of the Interior later reported that same day that it was estimated that about 50,000 people had crossed the border, a figure that was subsequently increased.
