Alberto González Amador, partner of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has put up for sale the apartment where he lives with the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, in the Vallehermoso neighborhood for almost 1.8 million euros. The listing was published online on July 16, three months after the regional government secretly purchased a penthouse of almost 485 square meters in Chamberí.
The controversial home where Ayuso and her boyfriend live has 211 square meters, four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a terrace of about ten square meters. González Amador acquired it in 2002 for 850,000 euros, almost 400,000 euros below market price. And now he has put up the ‘for sale’ sign for double that amount.
Ayuso’s partner acquired this property after receiving a commission of more than two million for brokering the purchase and sale of masks during the pandemic. Now, González Amador is awaiting a trial date for defrauding nearly 350,000 euros from the Treasury. After buying that first property, González Amador acquired the penthouse right above from Jorge Carlos Pablo Alonso, a businessman dedicated to hospitality in the capital and connected to Fernando Camino, a Quirón executive investigated by the Treasury for a million-euro commission. The acquisition of the property has always been controversial. The opposition has always criticized that Ayuso lives in an apartment bought by her boyfriend with money from commissions obtained from mask sales during the pandemic.
The sale of González Amador’s apartment is being managed by Gilmar and was promoted on their portal and on Idealista. On the latter platform, the listing was modified yesterday because some private elements were shown, such as a towel embroidered with the name ‘Isabel’ and a collage of more than 20 photos in the couple’s main bedroom that were not properly blurred. Today it can be seen in the listing, but the personal details of the seller and his girlfriend have been removed.
He bought it for 850,000 euros in 2022
The apartment, with 211 square meters, has come onto the market for a price of 1,790,000 euros before taxes. It has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a terrace, and a parking space, as well as clear views of the city.
González Amador bought it for 850,000 euros on July 27, 2022, with a down payment of 350,000 euros. Precisely, that is the amount for which he is being investigated for alleged tax fraud and document falsification. If he achieves his goal and sells it for the asking price, he would make a gross profit of 940,000 euros in just four years.
The ownership of the property lies exclusively with Alberto González Amador, who is listed as the sole owner in the Property Registry. Ayuso, for her part, only has one home in Madrid that was donated to her under a bare ownership regime, according to the latest asset declaration for 2023, when the property was valued at about 143,000 euros.
The apartment sale announcement coincides with the purchase of a 485-square-meter penthouse in Chamberí executed by the Community of Madrid, which did not make its acquisition public. After the controversy of the last two days, the Madrid government chose yesterday to rectify and announced the sale of that penthouse along with four other properties on Gran Vía to obtain about 20 million euros and dedicate them to aid the 17 municipalities in Madrid affected by the fire. The acquisition of this property by the public company Planifica Madrid, whose CEO is Pedro Corbalán Ruiz, has been surrounded by controversy, as neither its acquisition nor its purpose was made public. And upon becoming public, in less than 24 hours, Ayuso’s government opted to announce its sale. The decision is paradoxical, as Ayuso had said a few hours earlier that it was not a home for her and that the Community of Madrid was not opting for divestments.
The regional government had given little information about the use of the property, and Ayuso attributed it to provisional use during the works on the second floor of the Royal House of the Post Office, the seat of the Madrid Government Presidency, although theoretically the use of the property can only be residential.
