Fires in central Spain in the provinces of Madrid and Ávila affected more than 100,000 people and had a direct impact on the residential stock of those areas, whose recovery could cost around 157.1 million euros.

Up to 1,580 homes are within the burned perimeter, with a market value of around 343.9 million euros, according to estimates from the real estate portal Idealista based on cross-referencing data between satellite images from the Copernicus program and cadastral information.
By province, Madrid concentrates most of these homes, a total of 1,351, spread across five municipalities, with a market value of 296.1 million euros and a potential rehabilitation cost exceeding 99 million.
In Ávila, on the other hand, the impact is smaller in volume, with 229 properties distributed across seven municipalities, with 47.5 million euros in market value and up to 21.5 million in rehabilitation costs, according to the portal’s calculations.
At the municipal level, San Martín de Valdeiglesias tops the list, with 619 homes located in the affected area and an estimated rehabilitation cost of more than 64 million euros.
It is followed by Pelayos de la Presa, with 418 affected homes and a potential expense of 34 million euros; Villa del Prado, with 306 homes and an estimated cost of 36.6 million; and El Tiemblo, with 180 homes and 16.4 million euros.

On the other hand, evacuations and confinements caused by the wildfires in central-west and eastern Spain continued to be lifted yesterday thanks to progress against the fire, allowing residents of 17 localities to return to their homes throughout the day.
The confinements of the Zamoran localities of Fermoselle and Fariza and the evacuations of twelve of the fourteen towns that were evacuated last Wednesday, when this fire started, were lifted throughout yesterday morning, according to the Integrated Operational Cooperation Center (Cecopi).

The situation of the fire, which burned about 11,000 hectares in a perimeter of about 75 kilometers, was “favorable” yesterday both in extinguishing tasks and in the implications of the fire on the population of the affected area.
