The units in charge of border control in Ceuta have recovered from the water the lifeless bodies of at least 12 people in the last 24 hours. There are already 40 foreigners found dead in Ceuta waters this year while attempting to swim across from Morocco.

Throughout the afternoon of this Thursday, the Civil Guard has identified at least nine deceased persons in the water. In the morning, it was Maritime Rescue that found another lifeless body. And on Wednesday afternoon, two more were located.
If the pace continues, the number of deaths that ended last year, totaling 46, will soon be reached.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people continue entering Ceuta this afternoon along the Tarajal breakwater, both on foot and swimming. Awaiting official figures, police sources warn that irregular entries may have exceeded 10,000.
