The spokesperson for the Vox parliamentary group in the Valencian Parliament, José María Llanos, emphasized this Thursday his party’s satisfaction with the first budgets that include national priority. The leader even clarified the statements made yesterday, at the end of the plenary session, by the Valencian president, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, who spoke of “arraigo” (rootedness) instead of the concept defended by Vox. The head of the Consell pointed out that the accounts “give priority to those people who have been registered in a municipality for the longest time,” while adding: “They do not distinguish between skin color, they do not distinguish between immigrants and people born here. However, the Vox spokesperson is very clear that the requirement included in the criteria for distributing social aid and housing subsidies goes beyond the “arraigo” (rootedness) criterion. “We are talking about accumulated historical registration, legal residence, contributions to social security, schooling, the continuous historical residence of parents as well… It seems to me that it is a bit more than the ‘arraigo’ that the PP insists on.”

Nevertheless, Llanos has defended that national priority is constitutional: “There is nothing to prevent establishing a preference in access to limited resources. We have no problem with that.” The PSPV indicated yesterday that it is studying appealing the application of the budgets before the Constitutional Court (TC).

After reiterating that the approved budgets are not Vox’s, Llanos pointed out that his party “has little more to ask of the PP” and that it should focus on citizens, already thinking about the next election campaign.
