The Madrid Municipal Police have arrested playwright and theater director Ramón Fernández Paso as the alleged perpetrator of a sexual assault on a minor at the intersection of Alcalá Street and Paseo del Prado in Madrid, according to police sources.
The incident took place last Saturday around 7:30 p.m., when a couple alerted a Municipal Police patrol about an adult who allegedly made “sexual” touches to the minor, who is 15 years old and a student of the detainee. The officers stopped the man, who was walking hand in hand with the minor, whom, according to witnesses, he had caressed on the thighs and buttocks and kissed on the shoulders and neck.

The detainee confessed to the officers that he is the victim’s theater teacher, that she is the daughter of some family friends, and that he had been sitting with her on a bench near the Bank of Spain. According to the minor’s account, the detainee had come to meet her at her request, after she had had a conflict with a schoolmate.
According to the mentioned sources, the minor stated that the detainee “was consoling her,” and that this is why he was touching her. The detainee, who is the grandson of playwright Alfonso Paso and great-grandson of writer Enrique Jardiel Poncela, was brought yesterday before the Court of Violence against Children and Adolescents in Madrid.

The detainee was already reported in April 2024 for alleged sexual offenses against several young women between 18 and 25 years old that would have taken place between 2018 and 2023. The public prosecutor’s complaint was filed for alleged crimes of sexual assault — some of a continuous nature — harassment, stalking, coercion, or against moral integrity.
After collecting their testimony, the public prosecutor questioned fourteen girls, who confirmed their complaint against the playwright, whom they had met at the beginning of their theater careers, at auditions they attended.
