Catalan cuisine will be the focus of the new Masia Tibidabo restaurant, which already has an opening date: June 5. The Tibidabo Amusement Park wanted to commemorate the park’s 125th anniversary by entrusting the gastronomic offer of the new establishment to Rafa Zafra, chef of the Barcelona restaurants Estimar, Amar, and Per Feina, as well as the successful Jondal in Ibiza.

Located in the historic Masia building, in the same Tibidabo square and situated 500 meters above sea level, the new Masia Tibidabo (the space has been completely renovated by a team of architects led by Dani Freixes) will be the highest-altitude restaurant in the city, and will offer spectacular views from the mountain.

Zafra has proposed a dual gastronomic offer that can attract the whole family and serve as an additional incentive for Tibidabo itself. The renovation of La Masia pays tribute to the century and a half since the opening of the Tibidabo facilities in October 1901, with the tram and funicular promoted by Dr. Andreu. If that was one of the important dates in Tibidabo’s history, in the following years it would incorporate telescopes and binoculars, swings, Flobert shooting, bowling; the well-known mirrors and automata, and even a carrier pigeon station. Among the buildings, the one that would house El Gran Café Restaurant Tibidabo and the Hotel Restaurant Coll. In 1910 the electric carousel arrived; five years later the aerial railway; in 1921 the Talaia and in 1928 the Avió, a replica of the aircraft that made the first Madrid-Barcelona flight.
While the attractions retain their charm, over the years the culinary offer was declining. Until last year it was announced that finally a move was made and BSM, the municipal company that manages the Tibidabo amusement park, would open a new restaurant in the historic La Masia building.
