Queues of up to 17 kilometers on the return to Barcelona after the Second Easter holiday weekend

A total of 234,000 vehicles, 78% of the 300,000 expected, have returned to the Barcelona area by 8 p.m. this Monday, in the first eight hours of the return operation of the Second Easter holiday, on a day when traffic jams of up to 17 kilometers were recorded on the AP-7.

According to data from the Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT), the main traffic jams have been concentrated on the AP-7, where by mid-afternoon queues of up to 17 kilometers accumulated between Martorell and Subirats, in Barcelona, and eight between Olèrdola and Castellet i la Gornal, in Barcelona.

Additionally, on the C-32 there were traffic jams of six kilometers between Sant Boi and Gavà and four kilometers between Cabrils and Mataró, in Barcelona.

In Girona, the main traffic jams were recorded on the C-31, between Santa Cristina d’Aro and Castell Platja d’Aro, with three kilometers of queue, and on the C-65, between Llagostera and Santa Cristina d’Aro, with four.

Five dead in accidents since Saturday

Traffic has called for “maximum caution” and attention on the road during the return operation of this Second Easter holiday. The director of the SCT, Ramon Lamiel, has regretted that since Saturday five people have died in road accidents in Catalonia.

On Saturday, three people died: a motorcyclist on the BV-5301 in El Brull (Barcelona) and two in a collision between a van and a car on the A-2 in Jorba (Barcelona).

Also, yesterday Sunday two more motorcyclists died, one on the C-252 in Garriguella (Girona) and another in a head-on collision with a car on the B-142 in Polinyà (Barcelona).
