The National Court has ordered the Ministry of Transport to stop the camp set up in the Port of Ceuta to accommodate and assist migrants who arrived in the autonomous city at the end of July in the mass entry. This order will be temporary until the urgent precautionary measures requested by the Unified Police Union (SUP) are resolved.

The union filed an administrative contentious appeal requesting as an urgent precautionary measure the suspension of the resolution of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility of September 5, 2026, which agrees to the use of approximately 16,000 square meters of the Poniente extension of the Port of Ceuta, for the installation of a temporary reception device for people, with a capacity for one thousand people.
Prior to resolving the urgent precautionary measure, the Administrative Litigation Chamber of the National Court requested Transport to urgently, before 12 noon today, send the court the resolution in question as well as the rest of the documentation contained in the administrative file.
Until the urgent precautionary measure is resolved, the judges have informed the ministry led by Óscar Puente not to execute the resolution. On September 5, the central government decided to take control of the port of Ceuta to install a tent where immigrants who remain in the autonomous city can be housed.
The Executive signed the emergency resolution to be able to take this measure that was negotiated in the board of directors of the Port Authority but which the president of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas, refused at the last minute to cede.

The Vivas government denied at the last minute the use of two plots of the port of Ceuta to accommodate more immigrants who are currently waiting for the facilities to be specified that will be used.
The main argument used by the Ceuta Port Authority to deny the use of the facilities was that it prohibits “those occupations and uses of the port public domain that are intended for buildings for residence or habitation.” The government responded that only tents will be installed for temporary accommodation and nothing will be built.
In the port of Ceuta, after Transport took control, two areas have been planned on which to build new immigrant reception spaces. One of them, further east, is practically finished, after almost fifty tents have been erected in the last two weeks, to accommodate more than 500 people.
In fact, last night the rumor began to spread among the immigrants that the center would open its doors this Wednesday, so many came early in the morning to ask for a place. There are 40 large tents, each with eight bunk beds, and another ten larger ones that will also house common areas such as the dining room.
