LaLiga has made public this afternoon the Sports Squad Cost Limit (LCPD) of the clubs in the First and Second Division and once again it is Real Madrid that has the highest salary cap, with 832.786 million euros. Getting closer to those amounts is FC Barcelona, which reaches 582.769 million confirming its positive evolution, far from crisis times when the figure was negative. In the 2021-22 season, after the winter market closed and with the effects of covid still very evident, the blaugrana club showed a negative LCPD of 144.353 million.

Barça therefore recovers some air of normality, improving its previous summer update (432.80 million) and reaping the fruits of a policy of cuts that has allowed it this summer to invest about 170 million euros in signings and, above all, to register its players without setbacks or rushing. The blaugrana club has complied with the 1/1 rule.
The economic improvement, and specifically the increase in the LCPD, has been based on the increase in income due to the opening of Spotify Camp Nou, the collection of about 70 million in VIP boxes and, especially, the saving of high salaries such as those of Lewandowski or Araújo, loaned to Liverpool and in both cases among the highest wages in the squad. In that same folder, Ansu Fati, sold to Monaco, should be included, as well as the chapter of player sales, which have yielded high dividends such as in the case of Ferran Torres, acquired by PSG for 48.5 million, as well as Tommy Marqués (Sporting de Braga, 11 million), Héctor Fort (Real Sociedad, 8.5 million) or Jofre Torrents (6, to Ajax).
At the blaugrana club, however, they do not celebrate victory, aware that next summer will be complicated. Delays in the new stadium works have postponed the installation of the roof to next summer, which will force the first team to play again at Montjuïc, with the loss of income that this entails and assuming that the salary cap will be affected. The club has the commitment from the construction company Limak to have everything ready to return on October 15, 2027, but the club has taken precautions and has rented the Olympic stadium until January 2028.

To mitigate the effects of this situation, recent agreements with the companies Ohana Development and Babylon Park have emerged, two new economic allies that must be ratified by the members’ assembly on September 19.
The LCPD is the maximum amount that each club can spend during the season, in this case 2026-27, and includes spending on players, first and second coaches, as well as physical trainers of the first team. The limit also includes spending on reserves, youth teams and other sections, which in Barça’s case are numerous.
In calculating the salary cap, the estimated income in the budget is taken into account (with concepts such as season tickets, ticket sales, sponsorships and other commercial agreements, as well as television rights or player sales, forecast of where it will reach in European competition), from which expenses, debts and losses carried over from the previous season must be subtracted.
