The arrests took place on April 9 in Figueres and Perafita de Cabanes (Alt Empordà), following an investigation initiated after the complaint filed by the victim on February 3.
According to the investigation, the events date back to December 8 and 9, 2025, when the victim was held for several hours on an agricultural estate in Girona, where they were intimidated and assaulted with the aim of forcing them to pay the ransom.
The victim was first held on an estate in Girona and then in an apartment near the border with Belgium
Subsequently, they were transferred to a property in France, near the border with Belgium, where they remained held until their family environment paid part of the demanded money. They were released days later with the commitment to settle the remaining amount.
