Commissioner Sílvia Catà Culubret (53 years old) will be the new head of the Mossos d’Esquadra, replacing Commissioner Miquel Esquius who is retiring, thus becoming the first woman to hold the highest position of responsibility in the Catalan police.

Born in Arenys de Munt on May 14, 1973, Catà holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and has been part of the Mossos d’Esquadra since 1998.
Catà has developed much of her career in territorial command and citizen security responsibilities.
Between 2018 and 2019 she was head of the ABP Mollet del Vallès. Later she was regional coordinator of Citizen Security of the Barcelona Police Region and, between 2022 and 2023, deputy head of the Barcelona Police Region.

Since July 1, 2023, she has been head of the Girona Police Region, a responsibility she has held with the rank of commissioner.
With her incorporation into the Headquarters, Catà assumes the highest operational command of the force with a career focused on territorial police management and citizen security.
