According to the Ministry of Health, this agreement responds to the situation arising from the irregular entry into Spanish territory of more than 80,000 immigrants at the end of July. However, the department led by Mónica García insisted on ensuring that “although the situation is not a public health emergency, prevention work must be done, highlighting that the most urgent measure is to guarantee dignified conditions for migrants.”
Specifically, the Public Health Commission (CSP) has agreed to send up to 15,000 doses of MMR, and 10,000 doses of diphtheria-tetanus, chickenpox, and polio through the solidarity dose mechanism of the autonomous communities and the Ministry of Health. “In this way, Ceuta will have the necessary vaccines to respond to the extraordinary prevention needs of potential diseases through vaccination, both for unvaccinated Ceutan people and migrants,” the Ministry of Health stated.
