This was revealed by The Telegraph and later confirmed by national media such as the BBC, stating that the dukes will establish their residence in a private home, separate from the Crown. The place chosen by the couple to start this new stage could be located on the outskirts of the capital, thus guaranteeing them the privacy they sought when they moved to the United States.
With this, it seems that their recent visit to London and Highgrove, where the monarch received his grandchildren, was aimed at paving the way for this high-profile return and finalizing the details of their new life on British soil. However, as local media have learned, the king received the news last Sunday, so the matter was not addressed during that July meeting.
Even so, the decision has been a breath of fresh air for the monarch, who will be able to strengthen ties with his family from September onwards and, specifically, with his grandchildren, aged five and seven. After a period marked by geographical distance and institutional tensions, the closeness of the little ones will allow the sovereign to enjoy his role as grandfather in a much more everyday way. For their part, the Princes of Wales, William and Kate, have also been informed of this imminent move, which will be finalized in a matter of days.
