A large fight that took place this Saturday around 10:00 p.m. on Avenida Rosa Parks in Lleida ended with one person arrested and at least three injured by stabbing, confirmed the Lleida Urban Guard to La Vanguardia. None of the three injured — two minors and one adult — are in serious condition, although the adult was taken to Arnau de Vilanova hospital. Mossos d’Esquadra adds a fourth injured, this one by blows.

The fight pitted a group of Pakistanis who are regulars in the area against another group of various nationalities. According to sources consulted, disputes between ethnic groups in that area are common, but they had not reached this extreme.
Mossos d’Esquadra maintain patrols deployed in the area to prevent the situation from recurring
On Saturday night, a group of Pakistanis appeared in the area armed with knives and other objects, which led to the large fight that ended with the three stabbing injuries mentioned. Urban Guard and Mossos explain that about 100 people were present in the area at that time, but specify that not all participated in the brawl.
Alerted by the situation, the Urban Guard took charge of the operation, which was supported by ARRO units of the Mossos d’Esquadra. These units remain in the area (Balàfia/Barris Nord of the Lleida capital) to ensure security and will do so at least throughout Sunday.

Palau’s statements come after the large fight in the capital of Lleida. The popular leader has stated that the situation in Lleida is one of “lack of control and insecurity,” in addition to criticizing the municipal government for not having prevented events that, according to him, had already been warned about days before.
Palau has also demanded from the socialist government of the Paeria a greater police presence in conflict points, better coordination between security forces, and preventive measures against situations that may be foreseeable, as well as a specific plan to guarantee coexistence and safety on the streets.
