The family of the murdered couple in Tauste asks for respect for their memory and privacy

The relatives of the former general secretary of UAGA Javier Sánchez and his wife, Esther Latorre, found dead in their home with stab wounds on Saturday in Tauste (Zaragoza), have asked that “in these moments of immense pain, their memory and the privacy of the entire family be respected.”

In a statement released by UAGA-COAG, the family members expressed the “deep pain and sadness” that accompany them after their passing.

“In these very difficult times, we want to sincerely thank the countless expressions of affection, support, and solidarity we are receiving from their friends, neighbors, and colleagues from the various organizations they were both part of,” they highlighted.

They stated that they “deeply” feel that affection and have thanked that Esther and Javier “are being remembered with the affection and respect they deserve.”

Additionally, they have requested that, “in these moments of immense pain, their memory and the privacy of the entire family be respected.”

In this regard, they have pleaded “to avoid publishing unnecessary, morbid details or those that may be painful for their relatives and close ones, as well as any speculation about what happened.”

On this matter, they have reminded that the investigation is ongoing and have trusted that the competent authorities will determine the facts and their circumstances.

“Until their conclusions are known, any conjecture can cause additional and unnecessary harm to the family members who are already going through pain difficult to express in words,” they emphasized.

The bodies of Javier Sánchez and Esther Latorre were found with stab wounds by some relatives on Saturday night in different rooms of their home.

On Monday at noon, the eldest daughter of the couple and her partner were arrested in Zaragoza, and on Thursday they were sent to pretrial detention after refusing to testify before the judicial authority in Ejea de los Caballeros.
