The 30-year-old woman who had been hospitalized since February due to the severe burns suffered in the attack carried out by two hitmen on the orders of her husband in Sevilla la Nueva (Madrid), died this Saturday, according to sources from the Government Delegation. The incident was being investigated as a gender-based crime.
The event took place last February 2, when the woman was sprayed with a flammable liquid inside her home; subsequently, they set her on fire, causing severe burns on 50% of her body and several fractures. On March 23, the Civil Guard arrested three people related to the incident: the woman’s husband, as the alleged instigator of the attack, and two other men as the material perpetrators. The woman had been hospitalized since then at La Paz hospital, where she finally died yesterday, Saturday.
The three detainees remain in provisional custody, communicated and without bail, so far for an attempted homicide charge. The Government Delegation against Gender Violence is investigating the case as a gender-based crime.

With the confirmation of the young woman’s death, the number of women murdered in 2026 due to gender-based violence rises to 29, the third in the Community of Madrid, and to 1,370 since 2003, when these data began to be collected.
