The United States Central Command (Centcom) reported late this Friday that its forces shot down four Iranian drones launched towards the Strait of Hormuz, considering them an immediate threat to commercial navigation in the area.

According to the US military command, after intercepting the devices, US forces attacked Iranian coastal surveillance radar facilities located in Goruk and on Qeshm Island to prevent further actions.
The incident occurs amid growing tensions between Washington and Tehran and after several clashes recorded in recent days near the strategic maritime passage, through which a significant part of the world’s oil trade transits.

For his part, US President Donald Trump declared in an interview this Friday with NBC that he is “acting very quickly” in the war against Iran, almost 100 days after the United States and Israel launched the attacks, and despite the initial deadline he had indicated of four to six weeks.

The new incident between the armed forces of the United States and Iran adds to a series of similar attack exchanges in the Hormuz area in the last three weeks, despite Washington’s insistence that the ceasefire remains in effect since April.
