Two U.S. military personnel in Jordan died on Friday while defending the area from an Iranian missile and drone attack, the United States Central Command (Centcom) reported in a statement on Saturday.

According to Centcom, the incident occurred on Friday when U.S. forces and their allies defended against Iranian missile and drone attacks.
One U.S. service member remains missing, while four others were evacuated to Jordanian hospitals, Centcom reported on X.
Earlier, Centcom had confirmed to Fox News that at least 13 U.S. military personnel have been injured over the past week amid rising tensions in the Middle East, although it emphasized that all had survived.
The military authorities issued that statement following recent claims by Iran, which said it had launched an attack on a U.S. base in Syria, in which members of the American troops were allegedly captured and killed. However, Centcom denied this information to Fox, stating that the event did not take place.

Meanwhile, multiple U.S. official sources told CBS News, on condition of anonymity, that Iran attacked at least two bases in Jordan this week. These attacks may have resulted in the deaths of the two U.S. military personnel.
These military facilities, frequently used by U.S. combat aircraft, suffered impacts that caused injuries to U.S. service members.
According to the newspaper The Hill, the official number of U.S. military personnel killed during the war against Iran stands at 14, a figure that includes the recent death of a Navy pilot following an accident earlier this month over the Arabian Sea.
The outlet also reports that more than 400 service members have been injured since the start of the conflict.
