The Civil Guard of Alicante is investigating the death of a 56-year-old woman that occurred last night in a home in the urban center of the municipality of Almoradí as a possible gender-based crime, according to the Delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé.

The discovery of the woman’s lifeless body occurred this Monday around 11 p.m. After an initial investigation on site by the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard, the husband, 61 years old, has been arrested in a case in which the Government Delegation against Gender Violence has reported that, although it is gathering data.
“We have had five women murdered and two children,” says Bernabé, “it is a figure that must challenge us, alarm us, and mobilize us”
Bernabé has pointed out that “it is being treated as an alleged case of gender-based murder, but at this moment it is under full investigation; the partner, the man, is detained by the Civil Guard.”

There is a complaint against the man in the Viogen system from 2008 that was deactivated in 2009 due to lack of judicial measures, added the deputy delegate, and there are no records since then of the Viogen system being reactivated.
If confirmed, it would be the sixth victim of gender-based violence this year in the Valencian Community, Bernabé recalled. “We have had five women murdered and two children,” she added, “it is a figure that must challenge us, alarm us, and mobilize us.”
