The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has raised the high temperature warning to red for tomorrow, Thursday, on the southern coast of Valencia and Alicante, where temperatures could exceed 42º C.

The Valencian Community will register the highest peak of this heatwave tomorrow, and models predict that temperatures will not normalize until Sunday, when the change from the current very humid air mass, which is causing a great feeling of mugginess these days, to a drier one will be perceived. This will not only cause temperatures to drop but also make the thermal sensation more bearable.
In the longer term, this drop will only last until Tuesday, because the forecast is for a new warm peak to bid farewell to this “extraordinary” month of July, according to the same Aemet sources.

The red warning will be active between 12 PM and 8 PM and extends mainly to inland and pre-coastal regions, as some breeze will enter the coast, leaving maximums at 35-36º. In La Safor and the north of Marina Alta, it always happens that the highest temperatures are recorded from 5 PM onwards, when the southeast breeze turns south.
Aemet warns that with so much heat, storms can also form, especially in Alicante, where a warning has been activated for storms that could bring very strong gusts of wind and hail. In addition, the rest of the province of Valencia, Alicante, and the southern interior of Castellón are under an orange warning for high temperatures.
