The sectoral table this Thursday between the Conselleria d’Educació i FP of the Generalitat and the unions with representation, the seventh to address the labor improvements demanded by teachers, ended without agreement around 9 p.m., after more than 5 hours of meeting. After the meeting, the union representatives locked themselves in the department arguing that they would not move until the sector minister, Esther Niubó, negotiated with them. The minister came, but urged them to continue negotiating this Friday, a proposal that did not end up convincing the unions, who remain locked in.

According to La Vanguardia, the minister argued that they had presented a good agreement, with a 400 euro increase over four years, the recovery of the debt of the sexenios and many allocations for inclusive education. Hence she urged the union representatives to reconsider their proposal, inviting them to reflect and continue negotiations tomorrow. According to union sources, Niubó stated that it was “time to rest” and that she did not want to hear what they were proposing.
The meeting, which began around 3:20 p.m., included the Secretary of Educational Improvement of the Generalitat, Ignasi Giménez, and the unions with representation: Ustec·Stes, Aspepc·Sps and CGT Ensenyament – conveners of the cycle of mobilizations along with La Intersindical, although the latter has no representation at the table – and CC.OO. Educació and UGT – who signed the educational agreement with the Government in March -.
The department proposed to the unions 1,631 additional allocations each school year, compensation for the sexenios and the call for 5,000 chair positions in two years, and linked the 400 euro teacher salary increase to a new calculation of the increment.

The unions criticized that what Educació proposed is not really an increase and that the salary proposal is “the same” as that of the previous table.
Furthermore, during Thursday’s meeting, the sectoral table split into two meetings, one to address salary improvements and another on resources for inclusive education, and union sources indicated that there were no advances.
