Uncontrolled fire in San Martín de Valdeiglesias
A new forest fire broke out this Thursday in the Community of Madrid after a car caught fire on the M-501 in the town of San Martín de Valdeiglesias and the flames spread to the mountain. The fire has forced the preventive confinement of a nursing home and residents of two urbanizations to be asked to remain in their homes.
In the extinction efforts, 16 aerial and ground units from the Madrid Community Firefighters, Forest Brigades, and Forest Agents of the region are working, as reported by Emergencias 112 Comunidad de Madrid in a message on X.
As a preventive measure, the López Rumayor nursing home has been confined and an ES-Alert message has been sent to the population of the San Ramón and Jaracruz urbanizations to remain in their homes while efforts to control the fire continue.

The population of Pelayos de la Presa, including the urbanizations, has received an ES-Alert message to head to the urban area due to the proximity of the San Martín de Valdeiglesias fire.
This fire adds to the one originated this Wednesday in the Toledo town of Almorox, which has reached the Madrid municipality of Villa del Prado. It has already burned 890 hectares, 600 of them in the region, and complicated hours are expected due to high temperatures and wind.
