The judge in the Andic case investigates whether the family therapist influenced the death of the businessman

To the complexity of the investigation into the death of businessman Isak Andic, a new element was added this Wednesday. The judge of Martorell Raquel Nieto has asked the Mossos d’Esquadra to investigate “the existence of a third person who directly or indirectly participated in the events.” And that third person is J.L., an Ecuadorian therapist who resides in Germany and periodically travels to Barcelona to consult with several families in the city, including, for many years, practically all members of the Andic family, from the deceased, through his children and their mother.

The request is revealed in the order that the magistrate signed a few days ago, which La Vanguardia has accessed, by which she requested from Vodafone all call and message traffic from Jonathan Andic’s device during his lightning work trip to Quito, three days in March 2025. In that 17-page order, the judge summarizes the investigation that helps to get a little closer to the work that the Mossos d’Esquadra carried out over the last year and a half until reaching the conclusion that the eldest son participated in his father’s death.

In that document, the judge leading the investigation insists on the need to continue ordering the Mossos new proceedings to “be able to determine with precision the possible participation of Mr. Jonathan Andic, and if there were third parties involved in the events.”

An “active, premeditated and prepared” act

Until now, it was not known that the scenario in which the investigators work included the possibility of the participation or influence of that third person. The magistrate clearly warned in her forceful detention order that the accused acted in an “active, premeditated and prepared” manner, indicating that Jonathan did not randomly walk that path in Montserrat on December 14, but did so intentionally and in a place he had previously visited up to three times that same month.

The judge wants to know, again in relation to the activity of his phone, “the acts that Jonathan Andic carried out,” the calls he made at the time of his father’s fall, and “the premeditation of the criminal action with some person.” The therapist is not under investigation; in fact, she will be summoned to testify in court as a witness, although she has been looking for a lawyer for days. The magistrate directly points her out in her document because she understands that it must be investigated “if the psychologist had any participation in the events.”
