The Government is moving forward with the educational agreement reached with CC.OO. and UGT as committed, despite the conflict remaining alive in the education sector. The Consell Executiu approved this Tuesday the increase of the specific salary supplement for all teachers, as reported by the department’s minister, Esther Niubó, via the social network X. And it is expected to be included in teachers’ payrolls in May.
This measure corresponds to an 8.5% increase in the specific regional supplement. Specifically, it is 839 euros for primary school teachers and 858 euros for secondary and baccalaureate teachers. Teachers will receive the increase in a single monthly payment, once a year, for the next four years, in a timeframe extending from 2026 to 2029.
This measure represents an investment of 134 million euros
From that moment on, the agreed increase will be 2,960 euros annually for primary school teaching staff and 3,027 euros annually for secondary school staff.
The total budget that Educació will allocate to this measure is 134 million euros.
The Consell Executiu also approved compensation for overnight stays of 50 euros per night for teachers and educational support staff participating in outings and camps, to be paid starting from the 2026-2027 academic year. For this, the Government has reserved a budget of between 6 and 10 million euros.

If the payment is finally incorporated in May, a month in which many centers organize camps, teachers could see a sudden increase in their payroll close to one thousand euros (the specific supplement plus two or three days of camps).
This salary increase comes, precisely, in a month when trade unions are promoting protest actions. The educational pact did not have the support of the majority trade unions among teachers, such as Ustec or Professors de Secundària, who are at odds with the Catalan administration.
Ustec, after the widely followed strikes in March, has prepared a series of protest initiatives that it has put to teachers for consultation. Among them, more stoppages in the sector in May. Likewise, about 550 centers have signed a manifesto committing not to take students outside the center or prepare camps. They disagree with the agreed supplement.
Disagreeing unions do not attend the sectoral table with the administration
This union, along with Professors de Secundària and CGT, did not attend the sectoral table meeting held today in disagreement with the pact and “while the blockade of negotiations on working conditions continues.” In a statement, they explained that they are still awaiting a response from the Department of Education and FP regarding the reopening of negotiations and have accused it of being “entrenched.” The unions consider it a “disregard” that they were called to a meeting to discuss ordinary matters “as if nothing had happened.”
