The residents of l’Hospitalet are this year the most affected by the usual summer cuts for infrastructure renovation in the Barcelona metro. L1 will be out of service between Florida and Plaça de Sants stations from July 17 to August 28. This will be six weeks during which users of the closed section of the red line will be without metro service. Those in the rest of l’Hospitalet will have to choose the best alternative to avoid extending their journey more than necessary during the hottest days of the year with fewer passengers on the subway. About 40,000 people will be affected every day.

Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) will provide an alternative bus service along all the closed stations, although the best alternative for those who want to travel from the second city of Catalonia to the capital (and vice versa) is to use other railway services: the metro itself with L9 at Torrassa and L5 at Plaça de Sants, as well as Rodalies to go from Rambla Just Oliveras to Sants station and Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat (FGC) from Avinguda Carrilet to Plaça Espanya.
The closure is being carried out to undertake a comprehensive renovation of the track between Santa Eulàlia and Mercat Nou stations, which are notable for having a significant slope and being among the few open-air sections of the Barcelona metro. With a planned investment of 11.5 million euros, all tracks, catenaries, and signaling will be renewed. The track switch that provides access to the workshop and also allows trains to be diverted to one track or another in case of an incident will also be replaced.
L9 will also be interrupted between Sagrera and Onze de Setembre from the end of June
Users of L9 and L10 Nord will also experience disruptions. Service between Sagrera and Onze de Setembre stations will be interrupted from June 25 to August 30. In the final phase of the work, from August 31 to September 6, the closure will be extended to Bon Pastor station, thus leaving L9 Nord users without the possibility of interchanging with L5 at the very busy La Sagrera station.

This work is essential for the future opening of the first stations of the central section of L9. These will be precisely those closest to the current northern branch, and their entry into service is scheduled for the end of next year.
L4 Verdaguer station closes in July and August and trains will pass through without stopping
Apart from these closures, Verdaguer station will be closed for almost two months. From July 6 to August 30, L4 trains will pass through without stopping, due to adaptation works for people with reduced mobility that are being carried out and which have kept the connecting corridor between L4 and L5 at this station closed since October last year. When the metro resumes stopping at Verdaguer on August 31, the corridor will also reopen, and the station will be considered adapted, removing it from the increasingly shorter list of places with accessibility problems on the Barcelona metro.
The list of summer works on the subway also includes projects without railway impact, but which will involve a significant change in routines at very busy stations. This is the case of the connecting corridor between L1 and L3 in Catalunya. It will be closed from July 6 to September 7 for renovation and asbestos removal work. While the works last, the transfer that so many people make every day will have to be done on the surface.
