About to mark four years since her separation from Gerard Piqué, Shakira has surprised with conciliatory statements towards the former footballer. The Colombian singer, who is going through one of the most successful moments of her career, has wanted to publicly acknowledge the importance that the former Barça player had in her personal and family life.
In an interview granted to the British newspaper The Times, the artist expressed the gratitude she still feels towards the father of her children. “I will always keep in my heart that gratitude towards the father of my children and for having become the mother I am,” she said, referring to Milan and Sasha, born during her relationship with Piqué.
Shakira also recalled the tough process she went through after the breakup, confirming that it was one of the most complicated stages of her life. According to her explanation, the separation meant the end of the family project she hoped to maintain forever, although she considers that all that experience has helped her to become stronger and to face life with a different perspective.
The singer acknowledged that her children have been fundamental to overcoming that moment. Both Milan and Sasha now occupy the center of her life, to the point that she says she organizes her entire personal and professional routine around them. The Colombian also confessed that motherhood has allowed her to discover a new version of herself.
After closing the Latin American leg of her Las mujeres ya no lloran tour, Shakira is currently enjoying a few days of rest before starting a new series of concerts in the United States. The tour will start in June and will visit cities such as New York, Miami, Los Angeles, and Houston, as well as including her scheduled performance at the Football World Cup final in New Jersey on July 19.
On the sentimental front, the artist made it clear that she does not consider starting a new relationship in the short term.
