Neither Russia nor Ukraine accept the latest announcement by Donald Trump. The President of the United States said on Monday that Moscow and Kyiv had reached an agreement not to attack the enemy’s energy infrastructure, but by Tuesday night neither side had ceased such attacks. Russian drones hit two gas stations in Kyiv, while Ukrainian unmanned aircraft struck a Russian refinery in the Samara region.

The mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klichkó, said on his Telegram channel that the attack on the gas stations caused injuries to four people, two of them seriously. He also added that the Russian bombings hit warehouse facilities in another part of the city.
In recent months, Russia has attacked about 300 gas stations, according to Ukrainian authorities. Most of the service stations were near the war front.

This is one of Moscow’s responses to the effective Ukrainian attacks on refineries and other Russian oil facilities, including export ports, some in regions far from the border. The damage to their refineries has caused a severe fuel shortage crisis in Russia since May.
Precisely a Russian refinery in the Samara oblast (Volga basin) was also attacked by Ukrainian forces in the early hours from Monday to Tuesday.
“There has been a new attack by the Ukrainian army against our region. The military and mobile groups have been working all night to shoot down enemy drones. More than 40 were shot down in total (…) There is damage to an industrial company, and several residential buildings,” wrote the regional governor, Viacheslav Fedoríschev, on the Russian messaging network MAX.

Several independent channels, such as the Russian Astra and the Ukrainian Exilenova+ and Supernova+, identified the attacked facilities as the Rosneft oil refinery in the city of Sizrán.
With a capacity to process 8.5 million tons of crude oil per year, Ukrainian drones have already attacked it five times in 2026.

Donald Trump announced on Monday on his Truth Social network that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to a truce not to attack each other’s energy facilities. “Ukraine has agreed not to attack Russian energy facilities. Russia agreed to do the same! The rise in global diesel prices is mainly due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, not Iran,” wrote the White House occupant.
This is not the first time the current U.S. president claims to have negotiated agreements between foreign adversaries or with his own enemies, such as Iran, only for it to turn out that there was no agreement or that it was so weak it lasted very little.
In fact, neither Moscow nor Kyiv confirmed what the American leader said. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski said that his country “of course will refrain” from hitting Russian oil infrastructure “if our partners are willing to guarantee that Russia truly refrains from attacking our electrical system, other energy facilities, critical infrastructure, and food supply routes.”
