The Polish Air Force intercepted a Russian reconnaissance plane over the Baltic Sea this Monday, according to government sources. The aircraft, an Ilyushin Il-20, was flying thirty kilometers north of the coastal town of Łeba, wrote the Polish Defense Minister, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, on X.

According to the Polish government, its army fighters intercepted it at this point before it could violate Polish airspace. “Russia has once again tested our air defense systems,” explained Kosiniak-Kamysz.
This is the fourth incident of this type in the last two months. Three other Russian reconnaissance planes had been warned over the Baltic Sea in late July and early August. As in previous cases, this Monday it was enough for the Polish planes, after establishing contact with the Russian reconnaissance aircraft, to indicate to the crew to move away.

A drone factory burns and Warsaw denounces it as a terrorist act
The air incident occurs on the same day that the Polish prosecutor’s office announced an investigation for “terrorist crime” after the fire that occurred Sunday night to Monday at a drone factory in Skarzysko-Kamienna (central Poland), which caused no injuries.
The factory’s security guards, belonging to WB Electronics, a major private group specializing in electronic defense systems, alerted firefighters shortly after midnight. The fire was controlled in two hours, allowing the immediate dispatch of police and the Internal Security Agency (ABW, intelligence service) to the site.
According to a statement from the prosecutor’s office, the investigation was opened “for participation in activities of a foreign intelligence service directed against the Republic of Poland and for terrorist crime.” The prosecutor’s office did not provide further details nor specify the country suspected of ordering the fire at the factory located 140 km south of Warsaw.
Several NATO countries have recently reported being targets of sabotage or espionage operations, acts of “hybrid warfare” attributed to Russia.
