Peter Thiel, the investor who founded Paypal and now leads Palantir, an advanced software company with a significant presence in the military and security sectors, is moving to live in Argentina, a country he considers the most suitable to settle his family. Thiel, who has not wanted to make any comment on the matter, has chosen Argentina as his residence due to its ideological proximity to President Javier Milei.

Both Milei and Thiel share the same vision about the need to achieve a society with a minimal possible state. The president of Libertad Avanza has governed Argentina since 2023 and a year later already held an interview with Thiel. In the meeting, which was also attended by Thiel’s husband, Alec Oxenford, the American asked the Argentine about the viability of the reforms he is carrying out in the country. Milei replied that he wanted to “destroy the Argentine state from within.”
The billionaire has enrolled his children in Buenos Aires and is building a house in Punta del Este
Thiel settled in Buenos Aires in April, where he has been seen attending football matches. According to various sources that informed Financial Times, he has bought a six-bedroom mansion in the Palermo Chico neighborhood, in the area where the embassies are located. He has also bought land in Punta del Este, a beach town very popular among the Argentine upper class in Uruguay, where he wants to build a house. Thiel has also enrolled his children in a local private school.
For Milei, Thiel’s arrival is a victory that strengthens his image as a standard-bearer of the global far right. As the president’s chief of staff, Manolo Adorni, defined last month in Congress, “it is flattering” that the American has settled in his country. “Argentina is a country open to all investors who want to escape high taxes and excessive regulations,” Adorni commented.

Like his partner at Palantir, Alex Karp, Thiel is a man obsessed with his personal security and prone to surrounding himself with homes in different countries. He has financed projects of autonomous cities outside the jurisdiction of countries, whether in Central America or Iceland, in a move that is part utopia and part tax evasion. He has also invested in New Zealand, a country chosen for being the most remote in the world, where the government granted him citizenship after announcing the construction of a real estate project.
Thiel’s figure arouses great interest among the global elite. A billionaire, he has financed the political career of J.D. Vance and was the first man in Silicon Valley to bet on Donald Trump, breaking with decades of support for the Democrats. Today Silicon Valley is an ecosystem devoted to right-wing ideas in which Thiel acts as high priest.

Similarly, the character’s influence in the Trump administration is important, and it is channeled through names like David Sacks, another Paypal founder who today is in charge of everything related to artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies.
The investor, with family roots in Namibia and apartheid South Africa, has also financed far-right ideologists like Curtis Yarvin, a supporter of the idea that the United States should be governed like a company, through a board of directors.

Thiel is also a defender of a radical Catholicism adapted to his ideas that has led him to find the Antichrist in progressive thought critical of technological advances, especially artificial intelligence. His belligerence on this issue has also put him at odds with Vatican theologians, who consider his reading of the scriptures incorrect and biased.
