The 14 Spanish passengers traveling aboard the Hondius will be evacuated at the port of Granadilla de Abona, south of Tenerife, from where they will be flown to Madrid to be admitted to the Central Defense Hospital Gómez Ulla. All of them will undergo quarantine in a special isolation unit of this hospital center that was adapted after the 2014 Ebola crisis. Before flying from Tenerife South-Reina Sofía airport to the peninsula, the travelers will be medically evaluated in the Canary Islands.

The authorities of Switzerland have confirmed a case of hantavirus in their country, amid a health crisis due to an outbreak of this pathogen on the cruise ship Hondius. The man is hospitalized in Zurich, where he is receiving medical care.

The luxury cruise ship Hondius, affected by a hantavirus outbreak, will finally dock in the Canary Islands, where it is scheduled to arrive next Sunday at twelve noon with more than 140 people on board, who do not show symptoms of the disease. The three sick people on the ship, one of them the doctor and in serious condition, were evacuated yesterday on two medical planes and transferred to Amsterdam, where they are receiving the necessary medical care.
