Abstention was expected to be one of the great fears in these elections, but the day is disproving that fear with data in hand. The people of Andalusia are going to vote and are doing so to a greater extent than in 2022. This is confirmed by the third (and final) turnout update, provided by the Minister of the Presidency, Antonio Sanz, from the Data Center. By 6:00 p.m., 51.65% of the census had already voted, more than seven points above the 44.51% recorded at the same time four years ago.

It was 09:00 hours when the polling stations in Andalusia opened their doors ready to receive the thousands of voters who are called to participate today in the regional elections. The day started with some minor incidents, several anecdotes at the start of the day, and an initial turnout report that points to a slight decrease compared to the 2022 elections.

After weeks of intense campaigning and a day of reflection with friends and family, the day has arrived. This Sunday, May 17, the main candidates for the Presidency of the Junta de Andalucía have already exercised their right to vote at various locations across the community, in a key day where Andalusians are called to decide the political direction of the region.
