The Lost and Found Office of Madrid received a total of 5,137 items during the month of August, a varied collection in which 951 pieces of costume or fine jewelry, 573 glasses, and 572 wallets and purses stand out.

Technological objects also occupy the top spots in the ranking. In the municipal offices, 405 computer items were deposited, including computers, USB drives, e-books, tablets, batteries, and chargers, as well as 326 headphones and 214 mobile phones.

Sets of keys and backpacks

The cabinet of forgetfulness is completed with 350 clothing items, 324 belts, and 132 accessories, such as scarves, berets, hats, gloves, handkerchiefs, and hats. Added to these are 234 sets of keys, 188 bags, 164 backpacks, 115 purses, and 81 suitcases.

The list also leaves room for less common ‘forgets.’ During August, the office received a children’s bicycle, baby and shopping carts, motorcycle and construction helmets, crutches, portable coolers, scooters, stuffed animals, tents, a hair straightener, sports equipment, fans, and even lottery tickets.

At the other end of the inventory, there appears a single music player, a truly ‘vintage’ item, three agendas, six briefcases, and seven foreign banknotes.

Those who recognize any of these objects can recover them by proving ownership at the Lost and Found Office, located at numbers 7 and 9 of Paseo del Molino. Service is provided on working days, Monday to Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
