A team of surveyors certifies a new 3,000-meter peak in the Catalan Pyrenees

The team of surveyors from Sostremetries, who have been reviewing the altitudes of the peaks of the Pyrenees for years, has certified a new three-thousander in Catalunya, the South Needle of Malavesina, at 3,012.9 meters altitude and a prominence of eleven relative to the last saddle, in the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, according to measurements taken on July 5. In this way, Catalunya goes from twelve to thirteen summits exceeding this elevation: Pica d’Estats, Verdaguer, Punta de Gabarró, Sotllo, N. subpeak of Sotllo, Rodó de Canalbona, Comaloforno, Besiberri Sur, Besiberri Norte, Punta Alta de Comalesbienes, Tuc de Mulleres, North Needle of Malavesina, and now the South Needle. In the entire Pyrenees range, the number will increase from 216, of which 125 are main and 91 secondary, to 217.

The sign of a pastry shop for tourists irritates the residents of Consell de Cent

The very bold and eye-catching signs of the latest bakery mainly aimed at occasional visitors to the green axis of Consell de Cent street are irritating many nearby residents. However, this is not just a matter of taste. The tremendously flashy setup of prominent eyes, yellow color, and different reliefs intended to evoke the happiest cheese blatantly violates the urban landscape regulations of the Barcelona City Council. They might even get fined.

Dear and unknown Christopher Columbus

Dear and unknown Christopher Columbus

This has to start with a confession: only one of the journalists who make up the sanctuary of the ‘Living’ section of ‘La Vanguardia’ has climbed to the viewpoint of the Columbus monument in Barcelona, and it was just a few days ago, precisely for the report you are reading. The statue is largely unknown to the local public despite being one of the most recognizable figures in the city. It is, as things stand, and although the views are great from its 50 meters of height, a tourist attraction with little rooting. Although it does not lack emotion and feeling for that reason. A couple of years ago, Oriol Espuny, one of the attraction’s reporters, proposed placing a guestbook at the small reception so that people could write or draw whatever they wanted. They have already filled three volumes and the idea, he says, has become a “wonderful analog Instagram.”

PP, Vox and Compromís criticize that Puig has hired his partner’s son as a driver

PP, Compromís and Vox have criticized that the ‘former president’ of the Generalitat Ximo Puig has hired the nephew of his partner, the former councilor Gabriela Bravo, as his driver in his ‘former president’ office, while the PSPV has defended the figure of the one who was his secretary general and has recalled that this is a position of free appointment in which a person from the family environment can be hired, just as politicians from other parties do in other administrations.

PP and Vox close the Valencian political course with full agreement in the Corts

PP and Vox close the Valencian political course with full agreement in the Corts

A PP deputy, present in the negotiations of the amendments with Vox, was complaining this week about the impression that their party says yes to everything their partners propose without protest. “We fight a lot, you don’t know what they propose to us and not everything goes through,” she pointed out. The truth is that, despite the parliamentarian’s words, PP and Vox end the political term in total harmony in the Corts Valencianes. Last Monday, the Populars voted in favor of every single one of the radical right’s amendments (both the negotiated ones and those that were not touched) to the law on fiscal measures, administrative and financial management, and organization of the Generalitat. At the same time, Vox did the same with the PP, except on one issue.

Barcelona dismantles the drug addicts’ camp on Montjuïc mountain

La Guardia Urbana evacuated early Friday morning 32 people settled in tents and some very precarious constructions built on the slope of Montjuïc that faces the Ronda del Litoral, right next to the Firefighters’ park, on Josep Carner Avenue… We are talking about what would practically be the most precarious, unsafe, and on top of that unhealthy shantytown neighborhood in the city that this mountain has become for some time now.
