The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, lashed out this Saturday against TVE’s coverage of the Spanish Grand Prix of Formula 1 taking place this weekend at the Madring circuit, accusing the public broadcaster of being “at the service of the Government” and doing “the impossible to overshadow the success of this event.”

In a message posted on her official social media profile, Ayuso admitted that she is “ashamed” of the coverage that the Spanish public television is giving to the Grand Prix, an event she considers “an opportunity and a pride for the whole country and the rest of the world.”

The Madring circuit of Ifema hosts this weekend the Spanish Grand Prix, an event with which Formula 1 returns to the capital 45 years later. It is expected that around 350,000 spectators will come to the circuit throughout the weekend.
