At least two dead and several injured in a shooting at the Teotihuacan pyramids

A gunman broke into the archaeological zone of Teotihuacán (Mexico) this Monday and opened fire from the top of the Pyramid of the Moon. The attack leaves a provisional toll of two fatalities, a Canadian citizen, and the shooter himself, who reportedly took his own life after the detonations. Three other people have been injured and are receiving medical attention.

According to initial reports, the attacker —described by witnesses as a man in jeans, a plaid shirt, and a face mask— managed to bypass access controls to the tourist site, climb the monument, and shoot at visitors. At the crime scene, security services have seized a firearm, a bladed weapon, and several live cartridges.
