The attack in Tambov leaves seven dead

In the town of Kotovsk, Tambov, seven of the eight people died. “It can be said with certainty that this was a planned terrorist attack against the civilian population,” denounced the governor of Tambov, Yevgeny Pervishov, on Telegram. The warehouse attacked in Elektrostal, in the region adjacent to the capital, burned for hours and fragments of a drone fell on a kindergarten without causing casualties.

Pervishov added that the attack aimed to cause “a large number of casualties,” as the explosives carried by the drones contained shrapnel. “The air defenses worked. 28 drones were shot down. If they had reached their target, the number of affected civilians would have been much higher,” he explained. In total, during the past night, Russian air defenses shot down nearly 400 drones, according to official data.

Zelensky justifies that the warehouses were used for military purposes

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky justified the attacks on his X account, stating that they were used for sending components to manufacture drones and other military parts. The president highlighted that they occur more than 500 kilometers and another more than 700 kilometers from the front. In addition, according to Zelensky, an oil depot and targets in the Sea of Azov, the Black Sea, and in “temporarily occupied Crimea” have also been attacked. In the Black Sea, a ship flying the flag of Antigua and Barbuda was hit: one person died and three were injured, according to the governor of the Odesa region.

Ukraine is intensifying its attacks on Russian cities far from the border in retaliation for Moscow’s daily air raids, as part of its invasion launched in 2022.
