At least 27 people died in a fire at a pub in Bangkok, the Thai capital, according to an official from the municipal emergency services. According to initial reports, there were 18 injured, eight of them in serious condition. This is one of the deadliest incidents of this type in the tourist capital in recent years.

The fire started at the Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao pub, in the Chatuchak district, north of the capital. “There are more than 27 dead,” said Anwut Pho-ampai, from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, which manages a voluntary emergency rescue service. This detail was not confirmed by the authorities.
Firefighters were alerted shortly after midnight and found customers fleeing through the main door of the establishment, which was engulfed in flames. A video posted on X shows large flames coming out of the bar while people run out screaming.

The Prime Minister of Thailand, Anutin Charnvirakul, explained that the cause of the fire is still under investigation and neither the identity nor the nationality of the victims has been disclosed, although foreigners are not ruled out.
