According to the newspaper Segre, the club’s deputy president, Marc Torres, announced this Thursday that they discovered it could be a scam after seeing that the person’s identity was not genuine. Torres stated that now the club is left without the promised investor, who was supposed to take charge of the club’s debts.
“This person came to my office and I alerted the Mossos d’Esquadra and at that moment the arrest took place because he could not justify his identity,” Torres said to the media, also pointing out that he will be brought before the court this Thursday.

Last week, Torres appeared with the announcement that Lleida CF would have an investor to continue with the project. He explained that it was “a French businessman, with a British passport, from the hotel and restaurant sector” who had signed the commitment to take charge of 1.8 million euros that the club owes to the Treasury and Social Security. This proposal had generated unusual optimism among fans and management, which now turns into absolute disappointment.
