Elon Musk, the South African billionaire owner of SpaceX and CEO of the social network X (formerly Twitter), has been one of the first figures to congratulate the German far-right for their results in the Saxony-Anhalt elections.

Musk, known for his support of Donald Trump and the global far-right for his particular fight against the woke movement, gender ideology, and the supposed white genocide that he claims is happening in his country of origin, congratulated the far-right leader Alice Weidel through his own social network. “Well done!” the billionaire responded to a post by Weidel in which she congratulated her group on the good results.

Similarly, the main AfD candidate thanked Musk for his support and asked for a “solid and constructive cooperation” with the far-right party. “Thank you, Elon, for your support and for your clear and extremely important perspective on the political events of our time, also here in Germany,” wrote Ulrich Siegmund in the same thread. “If we govern, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to establish solid and constructive cooperation. Germany would once again be a place worth investing in,” added the AfD member in his statement.
Elon Musk has become one of the personalities closest to the party led by Weidel, whom he has closely followed since her rise in German politics. At the beginning of 2025, he appeared at a party campaign event via videoconference, where he publicly showed his support for the party — then second in the polls — and expressed several slogans about the importance of preserving German culture and values, rejecting multiculturalism, and how, in his opinion, the far-right is the only hope for Germany.

Trump has made no comment on the AfD victory beyond sharing the election results
Musk is a follower of several conspiracy theories, such as the great replacement theory of the white race, and is ideologically very close to Trumpism, having been part of the first stage of Trump’s second term before separating due to certain differences. Specifically, Musk uses his social network to attack immigration and is loyal to the MAGA idea that Europe is approaching collapse as a civilization, both economically and demographically, due to migration policy.
