Jesse Bisiwu is already in England after signing his contract with Barcelona for five seasons. The club presented him with all honors as a new first-team player, although he will have a reserve team registration. Born in Belgium on January 22, 2008, Bisiwu has developed his entire football career in his country, although his family roots are linked to Ghana. He holds dual Belgian and Ghanaian nationality but has chosen to represent Belgium in the youth categories and is currently an under-19 international.
His story with football began very early. In 2014, at just six years old, he joined the youth academy of Oud-Heverlee Leuven, where he stayed until 2020. It was then that Club Brugge noticed him and incorporated him into their development structure. There he finished shaping a profile that soon caught attention for his ability to unbalance from the wing.
Bisiwu is a right-footed winger who usually plays on the left. He is 1.85 meters tall and stands out for his acceleration, his ability to beat opponents one-on-one, and his ease in carrying the ball. His change of pace and skill in tight spaces are among his main virtues. “I am a player who enjoys playing football,” said the winger who likes to have the ball, face opponents one-on-one, and beat them.
Without setting individual goals, he made it clear that his only priority is “to help the team, work hard, and be where the coach needs me.” Asked about the possibility of joining the first team’s dynamics, he was equally emphatic: “Whenever the coach wants, I will be there.”

Club Brugge detected his potential very early. In January 2023, at only 15 years old, he signed his first professional contract and that same year became one of the youngest players to debut with Club NXT, the Belgian club’s reserve team, in the Challenger Pro League. His progression consolidated him as one of the great promises of the academy, although he ultimately did not renew his contract and, therefore, never debuted with the first team.
Barça began to follow his steps closely in 2025, especially after his performances with the Belgian national youth teams. In fact, Bisiwu revealed that he learned of the Blaugrana club’s interest during the U-17 World Cup, news he received with great excitement. “It made me very happy and I felt very proud that a club like Barcelona was interested in me.”
Deco worked for months to convince the player and his environment that Barcelona was the ideal destination to continue his career. Several trips by the sporting director and his assistant, João Amaral, to Belgium were necessary to closely follow his development and negotiate conditions with his agent, Mobindi Marthi. “You all know that Barcelona likes to work with young players. I am here to be the next player to grow at this club and give my all for Barcelona,” Bisiwu said, thus explaining his decision to join the club.
Neymar, his role model
The footballer also confessed that his great role model is Neymar. “He has been my favorite player since I was very young. I love his playing style and how he enjoys the ball. That is one of the reasons I started playing football,” he said.
Although his idol is the Brazilian – he also mentioned Raphinha – Barcelona considers him one of the wingers with the greatest projection in the European scene. In fact, some internal reports even compare him to Ousmane Dembélé for his profile as an explosive, vertical, and unbalancing winger.
