Víctor de Almada’s statement this Wednesday in the ongoing Supreme Court trial against former minister José Luis Ábalos, in which the controversial businessman accused Pedro Sánchez of being aware of alleged irregular financing in the PSOE, although again without providing any evidence, has once again stirred up Moncloa and the Ferraz leadership, who have expressed their irritation. The socialists immediately announced that they will again request protection from the Supreme Court for the “insults and slanders” attributed to Aldama. “We will not allow ourselves to be defamed with impunity,” warned the PSOE leadership.
“Aldama has made lies his defense strategy. It has been two years now pointing fingers without evidence. We do not expect apologies; just stopping the slander is enough,” said the PSOE organization secretary, Rebeca Torró. “Our position has always been the same: zero tolerance for corruption and full cooperation with Justice,” defended the socialist leader.
The PSOE has in turn issued a statement denouncing that Aldama has been lying for two years about the alleged irregular financing in Ferraz, without providing any evidence. “Two years later, the reality remains the same: accusations without proof because there is no crime to prove. Lie after lie. We are facing a known strategy: in his right of defense, deception is his main tool. Pointing fingers without evidence and creating noise where there are no crimes,” the statement says.
The socialist leadership recalled that it had already requested protection from the Supreme Court to act against “these insults.” “We will do it again – the party announced -. We will not allow ourselves to be defamed with impunity. There is no illegal financing in the PSOE. Only Aldama’s lies exist,” it affirmed.

“Our position has always been the same: maximum cooperation with Justice, transparency, and absolute willingness to clarify any fact,” the statement adds. “Faced with any indication of corruption, the PSOE acts with zero tolerance, transparency, and strong measures from the first minute. Hopefully all parties would do the same,” the socialists demand in reference to the Popular Party.
“The PSOE is clear: we do not accept lessons from those who have had slush funds, extra salaries, or final corruption sentences. The difference is clear: some act and others look the other way. The PSOE will always be among those who act,” they defend.
