The mother investigated along with her partner for alleged serious injuries and sexual assault with penetration to her six-week-old baby in Barcelona has assured the judge today that she never saw any signs of mistreatment from her partner towards the little one and has reaffirmed her innocence: “If I had seen it, I would have reported it,” according to judicial sources.

She said this in her second statement today before the judge of Violence against Children and Adolescents of Barcelona, in which she answered questions from all parties for more than two hours.
The defense has requested a visitation regime with the child and the Prosecutor’s Office has already stated that it will oppose it
The investigated woman has acknowledged the father’s “clumsiness and lack of affection” towards the child and also that she carried out various internet searches showing concern for his state of health.
According to defense sources, the mother asked to testify again because the first time she was in a state of shock, and this new statement would be an “extension” of what she had already said at the time and she intended to answer the questions posed by all parties.

Regarding visits to doctors at various hospital centers in Barcelona, the defense has assured that it coincided with some of these visits taking place on a Saturday, which is why she had to go to various emergency services for her baby to be attended to.
In fact, she has stated that she explained to the doctors that her son suffered from some type of anal injury: “I wish they had told me,” she indicated in her statement today, although a dozen testimonies from doctors explained to the judge that she never mentioned this specific problem to them.

The mother also explained that on March 16, when the child’s femur broke, leading to his admission to the ICU at Vall d’Hebron, she was at home with her partner.
However, she specified that she was in the kitchen and her partner and the baby were in the dining room, so she “had no visual contact” with them.
According to judicial sources, the mother presented several contradictions in her statement this Thursday, although no further details have emerged.
They also added that the investigation by the Mossos d’Esquadra has revealed more information from the dump of her mobile phone, after the messages that were already extracted when the case investigation began.
The defense has requested a visitation regime with the child (now with a foster family), but the same sources have stated that the Prosecutor’s Office will “emphatically” oppose it until they can ensure the innocence of the investigated woman.
