A 21-year-old man

According to sources close to the case, the person arrested this Tuesday is a 21-year-old man, who was apprehended in the Catalan capital.

For these events, a man was already arrested a day after the crime, who was subsequently remanded in custody accused of homicide, in a case that the Mossos initially linked to a confrontation between youth gangs.

Case under seal

The Mossos d’Esquadra maintain an open investigation into the crime, in a case that is under judicial secrecy by court order.

The homicide occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, in Pegaso park, located in Barcelona’s Sant Andreu neighborhood, which is sometimes frequented by violent youth gangs.

A group of people approached the minor and opened fire on the boy, who was critically injured and ended up dying on the spot, in what the Mossos d’Esquadra see as a “direct action,” not a random event or an accident.
