The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, received the Spanish national team this Monday at the Palacio de la Moncloa upon their return from the United States. After visiting the Royal Family at the Palacio de la Zarzuela, Luis de la Fuente’s men went to the residence of the President of the Government to celebrate La Roja’s victory. The Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Milagros Tolón, was also present at the reception.

Sánchez thanked the Federation for their visit to La Moncloa. “I want to give immense thanks to the technical staff and the players,” he said, while recalling Luis Aragonés when he said that “finals are not played, they are won.”
The President of the Federation, Rafael Louzán, had words for all the fans for their support and expressed his pride in having achieved the second star. “This title has helped unite the whole country,” he said.
The captain of the national team, Rodri Hernández, stated that this is the most special title he has won: “The most beautiful thing there is is to win a World Cup, especially when you have grown up watching Casillas and Iniesta win the first one and dreaming of achieving it.” Rodri downplayed the difficult moments and assured that the national team has had “a very complete World Cup.”

For his part, the coach, Luis de la Fuente, spoke of emotion and pride. “We are a wonderful country, with all the people very committed to the national team; we are very excited and happy.” And he concluded by saying that this national team “is the best team in the world, in capital letters,” as well as thanking all the supporters.
Ferran Torres, who scored a goal in the 106th minute of the match yesterday, said he is “very happy to see the excitement in all the children here,” referring to the children of the workers at La Moncloa. And he showed enthusiasm about celebrating the victory afterwards with all Spaniards. “You always have to keep believing, in the end everything comes,” he concluded.
