The U.S. military announced this Sunday the end of its latest round of airstrikes against Iran, which included attacks against the Iranian paramilitary Revolutionary Guard for the attack that caused the death of U.S. soldiers in Jordan.

“U.S. forces have begun launching new airstrikes against Iran by order of the commander-in-chief,” that is, President Donald Trump, wrote the U.S. Central Command on the X website.
The U.S. Central Command also reported in a statement that the strikes hit “coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone depots of the Iranian military.”
“These strikes aim to further reduce Iran’s ability to threaten commercial maritime transport in the Strait of Hormuz and to swiftly punish the Islamic Revolutionary Guard forces that launched attacks against U.S. military personnel in Jordan last night,” it added.

The Iranian news agencies Mehr and Tasnim simultaneously reported U.S. airstrikes in Sirik, a port located in the Strait of Hormuz, in southern Iran. The official news agency IRNA reported on a “U.S. enemy military attack near Hajiabad,” in the same southern province of Hormozgan.

Iran has not provided general information about its material losses in the U.S. campaign, which has already lasted eight days, while both countries dispute control of the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow entrance to the Persian Gulf through which one-fifth of the oil and natural gas traded in peacetime passes.
On Saturday, CENTCOM announced the death of two U.S. military personnel — the first since hostilities resumed on July 7 — and the disappearance of a third, during Iranian missile and drone attacks on Friday in Jordan. The number of U.S. soldiers killed since the start of the war in late February now totals 16.
50 dead from U.S. attacks
According to a count by the Iranian Ministry of Health, U.S. airstrikes have caused the death of at least 50 people and injured more than 500 since June 27.
The Iranian military announced this Sunday that it attacked two military bases in Kuwait in retaliation for U.S. airstrikes against Iran, according to state television. The Iranian forces “launched large-scale attacks with suicide drones against the U.S. military ammunition depot at Camp Udairi, as well as against the Patriot radar system and the air surveillance radar at Ali Al-Salem airbase in Kuwait,” state television reported via Telegram.
